Biology of Vector-Borne Diseases (BVBD) – France summer school, 1–5 June 2026 in Avignon

We are pleased to announce the Biology of Vector-Borne Diseases (BVBD) – France summer school, to be held 1–5 June 2026 in Avignon, France. This course is the sister program of the flagship BVBD course run annually by the Institute for Health in the Human Ecosystem (IHHE), University of Idaho (USA). Our French edition, organized with support from the IMPLANTEUS graduate school, is designed to support international participation while reducing the environmental footprint of long-distance travel.

What is BVBD–France? BVBD–France shares the mission, core teaching elements, and hands-on approach of the Idaho course: building a lasting knowledge network of researchers and practitioners who advance the science and interventions for plant, animal, and human vector-borne diseases. Faculty interactions between the two programs—and shared instructors—ensure aligned pedagogy, while each course keeps its distinctive focus shaped by its teaching team and case studies.

Who should apply? Graduate students, postdocs, practitioners, and early-career professionals with foundational knowledge of vector-borne diseases who want to bridge disciplines (biology, ecology, epidemiology, modeling, policy) and work on real-world “wicked challenges.”

How to participate: Apply by 28 February 2026 (motivation letter + CV). If accepted, register by 31 March 2026.

EUR students (class of 2025-2026 and previous classes) will be exempt from registration fees if their application is accepted.

All details—including the program and the application form—are on the website: https://bvbd-france.workshop.inrae.fr/

We look forward to your application and to welcoming you to Avignon!
