Numerous contacts have been made to promote IMPLANTEUS activities and recruit students. The list below summarises these contacts, some of whom participate in webinars, host interns or are involved in research projects. They are also included in our mailing list for calls for projects and events

Australia

  • The University of Queensland

Karine Chenu, Associate Professor at the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation at the University of Queensland, was introduced to IMPLANTEUS through a collaboration with Nadia Bertin, researcher at INRAE PACA. The Director of the Graduate School met her online in February 2024 to discuss potential synergies.

Canada

  • Laval University

Laval University has been identified as a key partner for long-term collaboration. Since 2024, Yves Desjardins, Full Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences in the Department of Plant Science, has been a member of the International Strategic Committee of IMPLANTEUS. A series of webinars has also been initiated to foster academic exchanges.

  • York University

In January 2025, the Director of the Graduate School held a videoconference with Christopher Perry, Professor at the School of Kinesiology and Health Science, who is also the Director of the Muscle Health Research Centre and Special Advisor to the Dean of Health on Strategic Research Partnerships. Emilie Roudier, Associate Professor at the School of Kinesiology and Health Science, also participated in this meeting to explore collaboration opportunities.

China

  • Chinese Academy of Sciences

hanks to a collaboration with Nadia Bertin, researcher at INRAE PACA, the Director of the Graduate School presented IMPLANTEUS to Zhanwu Dai, Director of the Grape Quality Regulation Laboratory at the Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, during a videoconference in February 2024. Following this discussion, two internship opportunities were offered for first-year and second-year master’s students in November 2024.

Estonia

  • University of Tartu 

After participating in a Campus France event with French attachés in November 2023, IMPLANTEUS was introduced to Endla Reintam, Professor at the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, through the French Embassy in Estonia. A videoconference was held in April 2024, and a delegation visit to Estonia is planned for spring 2025.

  • The Estonian University of Life Sciences

Ülo Niinemets, Professor and Head of the Department of Crop Science and Plant Biology at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, had agreed to give a lecture as part of the 2024-2025 IMPLANTEUS program. However, scheduling conflicts prevented this from happening. A visit to Estonia in 2025 will provide an opportunity to reinforce ties.

Israel

  • The Hebrew University

In November 2021, Ariela Fleger, Faculty Coordinator of Research Affairs and Funds at the Hebrew University, contacted IMPLANTEUS following a collaboration between Cindy Morris, Co-Director of the Graduate School, and Nadav Kast. A videoconference was organized to present the graduate school and its programs.

Italy

  • Politecnico di Milano

Renato Casagrandi, Full Professor of Ecology at the Department of Electronics, Information, and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, was introduced to IMPLANTEUS and received detailed information in February 2024.

  • Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

In November 2023, Giorgia Spigno, Full Professor of Food Science and Technology at the Department for Sustainable Food Processes at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, met online with Philippe Obert to discuss collaboration opportunities. Following this exchange, the university hosted an intern for a four-month internship in 2024.

  • Università degli Studi di Parma

Michele Bellingeri, Professor at the Department of Mathematical, Physical, and Computer Sciences at Università degli Studi di Parma, received an overview of IMPLANTEUS and its programs in February 2024.

  • Alma Mater Studiorum Università di Bologna

In November 2023, the Director of IMPLANTEUS held a videoconference with Luca Dondini, Professor at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, and Assunta Bertaccini, Professor at the Department of Plant Pathology at the same university. Following this meeting, the university hosted an intern for a four-month internship in spring 2024.

Kenya

  • Egerton University

Following IMPLANTEUS’ participation in the Universities and French Embassies Meetings organized by Campus France in November 2023, the Attaché for Science and Higher Education and Deputy Head of Cooperation, Mr. Matheu, introduced the Graduate School to Paul K. Kimurto, Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in the Department of Crops, Horticulture, and Soils. He is also the Director of Marketing, Resource Mobilization, and Agro-Science Park at Egerton University in Njoro, Kenya. This introduction led to a videoconference in May 2024 to explore potential collaborations. As a result, a Kenyan student joined the 2024-2025 cohort of the IMAS master’s program, and a co-supervised PhD thesis was established for another candidate.

Norway

  • The Norwegian University of Life Sciences

Lene Sigsgaard, Professor at the Faculty of Biosciences, and Cathrine Strømø, Study Supervisor at the same faculty, were contacted in February 2024. Following this exchange, a student was accepted for a four-month internship in spring 2025. Unfortunately, this project could not be carried out due to difficulties in obtaining a visa.

Romania

  • Aurel Vlaicu University

Thanks to a contact established through a collaboration with Nadia Bertin from INRAE PACA, Lucian Octav Copolovici, Professor at the Faculty of Food Engineering, Tourism and Environmental Protection and Director of the Institute of Technical and Natural Sciences Research Development of Aurel Vlaicu University received all the information about IMPLANTEUS in February 2024.

Spain

  • The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

Thanks to a contact established through Francesco Visioli, a member of the International Scientific Committee of IMPLANTEUS, a videoconference was held in October 2023 with María Reguera Blázquez from the Plant Physiology Unit in the Department of Biology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During this meeting, she received all relevant information about IMPLANTEUS.

United Kingdom

  • Cambridge University

Through an introduction by Daniele Bevacqua from INRAE PACA, IMPLANTEUS had the opportunity to meet with Nik Cunniffe, Professor at the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge, during a videoconference in March 2024. This exchange allowed for a detailed presentation of IMPLANTEUS and its activities.

  • The University of Warwick

Cindy Morris, Co-Director of IMPLANTEUS, held a videoconference in March 2024 with Samantha Wilson-Thain, Director of Student Experience and Associate Professor at the School of Life Sciences at the University of Warwick. Following this exchange, her students were invited to participate in the IMPLANTEUS summer school. Unfortunately, this opportunity could not materialize.

United States

  • Stanford University

Through a collaboration with Daniele Bevacqua from INRAE PACA, Giulio De Leo, Professor of Oceans and Earth System Science at Stanford University, was introduced to IMPLANTEUS and received all relevant information in February 2024.

  • UC Davis

Thanks to a collaboration with Nadia Bertin from INRAE PACA, Diane M. Beckles, Professor of Postharvest Integrative Biology at the University of California, Davis, was informed about IMPLANTEUS and received all relevant details in February 2024.
